Samosa Salad

Spices

While many restaurants serve Samosa as one of the entre, on Myanmar Street, Samosa Salad turns out to be a popular street food.

Out of the many types of Samosa, ranging from beef samosa to vegetarian samosa, to make Samosa Salad, potato curry Samosa would be my choice. You can always explore making Samosa Salad with other types of Samosa but I prefer potato curry Samosa.

Just like many other Burmese Salad dishes, Samosa salad includes shredded cabbage, thinly slice onion, coriander, garlic & onion oil, tamarind water, salt and soy sauce. In addition to those ingredients, we have chick pea gravy to go with the salad.

When cooking the gravy it is important to stir the mixture constantly. Otherwise the mixture will not turn into a nice consistent gravy but a thick blob. stir constantly and add more water if needed to. You also don't want to add more water too quickly as this can make the gravy too runny if you over water.

Preparation

  • Deep fry the Samosa until well cooked.

  • Thinly slice or shred the cabbage

  • thinly slice onion

  • Boil chickpea until cook. ( Careful not to over cook your chick pea.
